With the 7 consecutive wins, India becomes first team to reach semi-finals

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team, which played at home under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, has shown an amazing game. So far, India is the only team in the tournament which has won all the matches consecutively. Team India registered its seventh consecutive win in this World Cup against Sri Lanka on Thursday 2 November. With this victory, India’s semi-final ticket was confirmed.

The team that came to play after registering 6 consecutive wins in the ICC ODI World Cup also eliminated Sri Lanka. After losing the toss, the Indian team came to bat and lost the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma in the beginning itself. From here Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli took over the innings and took the score close to 200. After this Shreyas Iyer came and took the runs forward. Gill was out after scoring 92 runs, Virat 88 and Iyer 82 runs.

After making a huge score of 357 runs for 8 wickets, India defeated Sri Lanka for just 55 runs on the basis of 5 wickets of Mohammed Shami, 3 wickets of Mohammed Siraj, 1-1 wicket of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. India became the first country to reach the semi-finals by achieving a huge victory of 302 runs.

Apart from India, till now no team’s place in the semi-finals. With the win against Sri Lanka, India made its place in the top four. South African team is at second place in the points table after India. The team has won 6 out of 7 matches. The third-placed Australian team has won 4 out of 6 matches. New Zealand has got 4 wins after playing 7 matches.
