WPL Auction 2024: Women Premier League Auction Date Announced
Women Premier League Auction: After launching the Women’s T20 League on the lines of the Indian Premier League, preparations are now underway for its second edition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced that the player auction for the 2024 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL)[1] will be held in Mumbai on December 9. The second phase of the WPL could take place in February and March next year.
The defending champions are Mumbai Indians, who won the title earlier this year under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur by defeating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets on March 26. The five franchises Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriors have signed 60 cricketers ahead of the Women Premier League auction, including 21 foreign players. A total of 29 players from the current team were released from contract.
